Dr. Clare Tao is a detail-oriented and compassionate eye care provider with an integrative approach.
She studied Psychology and Applied Mathematics at Stony Brook University for her bachelor’s degrees. She was a recipient of Howard Hughes Medical Institute and National Science Foundation scholarships for her undergraduate research. During her senior year, she found her passion for understanding the human visual system. She worked as a vision therapist with children suffering from learning-related binocular vision disorders during her gap year, and then went on to receive her optometry degree at SUNY College of Optometry. She had extensive training in ocular disease and binocular vision. She worked at the flagship military hospital Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda and Ezra Medical Center in Brooklyn during her externships. After graduation, she worked in private optometry and ophthalmology practices in the New York Metro area.
Dr. Tao believes the essence of her work is to enhance patients’ vision thus allowing a more fulfilling life. She prides herself in developing trusting and meaningful relationships with her patients from all walks of life.
Dr. Tao is excited to bring her specialties to the practice. She is also a pediatric eye care provider with a special interest in myopia management. She understands the struggle children and parents face from her own childhood experiences, and strives to help children see their best so they can reach their full potential in life.
Dr. Tao is an active member of the American Academy of Optometry and New Jersey State Optometric Association. She believes in giving back to the community and providing free infant vision screening. Outside of work, she is a Yogi and enjoys hiking.
Eye examinations are provided by an Independent Doctor of Optometry located conveniently at Sterling Optical.
